Spring Bar Recommendation for Trailer with Approximately 800 lbs of Tongue Weight

Question:

I purchased a travel trailer with a manufacture tongue weight rating of 730lb. I know after I add the additional weight of the loaded trailer and load the bed of my towing truck, my tongue weight would probably jump to between 800lb. to 900lbs., give or take some. Guessing only. My question: Is my Reese system, which is a round bar weight distribution system, with spring bar ratings of 800lb. that were provided by the seller, when trailer was purchased, sufficient for my towing needs? I know the hitch is, but I am wondering about the spring bars, will they safely do the job?

Helpful Expert Reply:

If you are confident your tongue weight when loaded will exceed 800 lbs then you need to go with higher rated spring bars since yours are rated for 400-800 lbs.

So the replacement round bars you'll want are the part # 58338 which have a tongue weight rating of 1,200 lbs.
