Where Should Redarc In-Vehicle Battery Charger be Grounded?
Question:
Hello, Im going to purchase this Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 40 Amp along with your two pole socket connector 2-Pole Socket Connector - Vehicle Side and trailer side Item # PK12801 and PK12800. I have a camper trailer and I want to install the DC battery charger in the trailer right next to the batteries. Im running the wires from the tow vehicle to the trailer with your two pole connector but Im a little confused on where to ground the charger. Would you ground it to the camper trailer chassis or back to the tow vehicle chassis, in this case, my truck? Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
When wiring the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D along with connectors # PK12801 and # PK12800 you will want to ground to the tow vehicle chassis. The linked instructions specifically state that "all ground points must be connected to chassis earth". You can see this in the diagram I've added for you to take a look at.
