Recommended Best Bike Rack for 2017 Jeep Wrangler with Spare Tire for Rear Door Access
Question:
With this installed will it fold down enough to open the back of a 2017 jeep wrangler with the spare? If not which 2 bike would you recommend?

The Thule Apex XT 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # TH9024XT will not tilt down enough to open the rear door on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler with spare tire.
For this function, I recommend the Hollywood Racks SR1 2-Bike Carrier - Spare Tire Mount, # HRSR1. This carrier will be the best spare tire mounted bike rack for your 2017 Jeep Wrangler. It will securely mount to your spare. I do recommend the Saris Cable Lock # SA981 to secure your bikes to the rack.
If you prefer the hitch mounted bike rack, your best option is the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Swinging # TH9027XT. This will provide you with adequate clearance for most spare tires and also will give you the swing away option to give you access to your cargo door and spare tire even with bikes loaded. I recommend the Swagman adapter bar # 64005 for this carrier if you have any step through frame bikes. I've attached a video to assist. I also recommend the anti-sway hitch lock # THSTL2 to secure your investment. There is not a 2 bike swing away bike rack with the swing away integrated, but you can always use the Yakima BackSwing # Y02483 to make your 2 bike rack a swing away rack.
