I recommend the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter, Item # 204132-MBS. This fitting can be used to quickly switch your propane supply from your refillable exchange cylinder to a 1-lb disposable cylinder. The adapter uses the Type 1 male end that will allow you to screw into the supply line from a LP appliance and the female end that will connect to a 1-lb disposable tank.

If you have a tank that is larger than the 20-40 lbs, this adapter will not work. The larger tanks are too big and the pressure differential between the 1-lb and the larger tanks is too great. However, this fitting is a perfect solution if you need to quickly connect a 1-lb cylinder for small applications like barbecuing.
