Troubleshooting the Outside Edge of Rear Tire on Tandem Axle Travel Trailer Wearing Differently
Question:
I have a duel axel travel trailer. What could be the cause for one of the rear tires wearing on the outside tread faster than all the others?

Expert Reply:
Tire wear on the outside of one of the rear tires on your tandem axle trailer is most likely due to incorrect tire pressure or sway. If you keep your trailer tires inflated to their max psi when cold then your tires will have the best chance of even wear and you can rotate the tires as needed.
If both rear tires are wearing on the outside, then that would be an indication that the weight on that rear axle was not significant enough to straighten out the axle when under load as most axles have a slight bow in the middle by design for strength and support under load. With just one tire wearing it could be an uneven load.
