Can the Goal Zero Adapter Cable 287-98009 be Used to Power a Remote Latch

Question:

Hi, I was looking into 12 volt adapter cables for a power supply car battery to a remote operated latch, and was wondering if the cable I found at you’ site part 287-98009 will work for me. I saw that a similar cable was used for battery charging, and want to be sure that I don’t end up buying the wrong cable. Thank you

The Goal Zero Adapter Cable # 287-98009 has a 6mm input meaning that it is designed so that the power runs to the alligator clips instead of the other way around. This is the opposite of what you are looking for. I can't say if it would work or not in that manner or if it will pop the in line fuse. Traditionally the direction of the power doesn't matter to a fuse but it hasn't been tested for that application so better safe than sorry.

If this is for a vehicle and the vehicle has power door locks I recommend wiring the latch to the power door locks so you not only will have power for the latch but it will operate on the same switch as the door locks.

If this is for a different application then you can get a male terminal disconnect, # DW05708-1, and the mating female, # DW05709-1, along with some 14 gauge wire, # DW07550-1 (sold by the foot), and make your own connectors.
