Can the Camco RV Cupbaord Bars be Cut Shorter for a Smaller Opening

Can these be cut down to a shorter size?

I don't recommend cutting the Camco Cupboard Bars, part # CAM43833. They're tensioner rods using springs, similar to a shower curtain rod, which would make them very tricky to cut without damaging them.
Also, if you cut them the warranty will become null and void.
