Roof Cargo Box Recommendation for 2018 Toyota 4Runner to Allow Rear Hatch Open

Question:

I have a 2018 4runner limited with factory installed cross bars. Lift gate hits back of thule sonic xxl box. Is there anything I can do with after market cross rails so that lift gate doesnt hit box?

If the front crossbar of the roof rack is all the way forward on the raised side rails there's really nothing an aftermarket roof rack can do.

It looks like you have a distance of 53 inches from the front crossbar back to the rear hatch seam so you'd need a shorter cargo box like the Thule Motion XT # TH629706 which will easily clear. This box only requires 47-1/2 inches of clearance.
