Troubleshooting Driver Side Turn Signal Not Working with Curt Harness on 1995 Ford Windstar

Question:

i just purchased a trailer hitch and a wire harness plug in set from you and all is great except the driver side turn signal does not work. It looks to me like the white wire is the hot one when blinker is on. The yellow wire goes to the trailer plug and does nothing. I think if I cut the yellow off and splice it to the white wire I think it will work, but I dont want to cut and splice something that should work. Have you had any other issues with this? Please advise!

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55346 referenced in your question. You should not need to splice any wires together on the harness for it to work properly on your Ford Windstar. My contact stated that if you were getting power on the white wire, which is a ground wire, none of the functions should be working on the harness.

He thinks that you might have a ground issue on the vehicle tail light itself that might be causing the issue you are having. I recommend checking the tail light assembly to make sure everything is in good, working order. I also recommend testing the vehicle side 4-Way with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. You can have a buddy sit in the vehicle and run through the turn signals while you test to see if you receive power at the appropriate pin (yellow). If you are receiving power there, then this actually indicates that the issue is somewhere on the trailer wiring.

If you are unable to resolve the issue, please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
