5th Wheel Towing Compatibility of 2016 Ford F-250 6-3/4 Foot Bed
Question:
I have a 2016 f250 xlt shortbed 63/4 and I am looking at purchasing a 15k lb 38 ft 5th wheel with a 2500 Pin weight. My truck has aftermarket rims and tires with 3600lbs 3750lbs weight rating respectively but my factory sticker still shows load capacity at 2320 lbs. and the RV dealership is telling me I need to have spring work done. Can I and/or should I use air bags to increase that load capacity

Expert Reply:
The Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # F2703 will help your truck to ride level and will assist in the shock absorption, but these suspension enhancement springs are not going to increase your load capacity. These springs are compatible with your vehicle and with the in-bed hitch.
I can't say if the increased wheel and tire capacity along with increases suspension capacity will allow that extra payload. The transmission and motor will also possibly be limiting factors along with the axle and hubs. I recommend checking with your local dealer for compatibility with your upgrades.
