Recommended Tire Chains for 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited All Wheel Drive

Question:

Hi I asked earlier today about chains for 08 Cherokee limited. Jason was very helpful. I have a follow up question. He recommended chains. Pewag Snox Pro Self-Tensioning Snow Tire . Wondering if there are less expensive chains I could use? Thanks

The Pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # PWRSV80A are a confirmed fit for your 255/55-18 tires. These will be Class S compatible so they are compatible with vehicles that have restricted wheel well clearance. They are easy to install and the diamond shape pattern and titanium alloy steel pair together for excellent grip and wear.

According to your owners manual (page 325) you should use Class S chains and they should be installed on the rear tires only.

For a more economical option for your 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link # TH2004705255 . These chains will still meet the Class S criteria and will provide good traction with the square link design more than cable, rollers, or twist links. They won't be quite as easy to install so I recommend installing them prior to needing to use them so you aren't caught in the cold. I've attached a video to assist. With this style chain, I also recommend the Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters - Light-Truck Chains - 15" to 18" Rims - 1 Pair # PW105 for proper tension.
