Should Curt TriFlex Brake Controller Cause Shaking During Stopping

Question:

Do I need to disconnect this when not towing. If so, how? The truck shakes a great deal when I’m stopping w/o trailer. I drive a 2015 Toyota Tacoma 4-wheel drive 6 cylinder.

A brake controller should have no affect on the way the truck brakes when a trailer isn't connected. I'd recommend disconnecting it though right now to see if somehow the wiring is causing an issue. If it is the wiring it'll be the red wire of the controller being connected to the wrong circuit. It needs to be on a circuit that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied.

It almost sounds like you have warped brake rotors though as that's typically what causes a vehicle to shake or wobble when braking. Did you recently hit the breaks really hard at a high rate of speed?
