Compatibility of Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System and 2012 Ford Taurus
Question:
I’d love to see instructions or a video about fitting an Even Brake in a 2012 Ford Taurus. In my view, they are not compatible in spite of your website’s claim to the contrary. The shape of the floor pan in the Taurus is very limiting when trying to install the Even Brake, and it makes braking reliability an issue. I was able to “redneck engineer” a solution which involves a ratcheting cargo strap running through the Even Brake handle and around the headrest of the car. Even with that, my system will fail the start up test at least 50 of the time. You have a great website full of great info. Thanks!

The Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # RM-9400 is a confirmed fit for your 2012 Ford Taurus unless your vehicle is equipped with active power assist braking system. Please check your owners manual to confirm why this is a compatibility issue. I checked with Roadmaster and they confirm a fit as well and do not recommend using a ratchet strap like you mentioned. I've attached the installation instructions to assist.
Unfortunately we don't have a video of a 2012 Taurus installation for you.
