Weight Distribution Recommendation for 14,000 lb Dump Trailer
Question:
Hi- I have a 2011 f250 crew cab diesel with a stock class V hitch. I am planning to purchase a 14foot 14K dump trailer. Can you recommend a weight distribution system/anything else for me to safely pull 14,000 lbs with nothing in the pickup?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Most likely the part # RP66006 would be the correct kit to use as it has a tongue weight range of 1,000 to 1,700 lbs like what your trailer would most likely end up weighing for the tongue weight. For a shank then you'd want the part # RP54977 and for a ball # 63840.
