Question:

Why is the Kout SH22 rack not recommended for Motorhomes? What externals would make it a bad fit? Thank you.

Motorhomes cause different stresses and strains on racks and racks for them need to be specially designed for the rougher conditions they will experience. The Kuat Sherpa, Item # SH22G, is a great rack but is only designed to work with cars, vans, trucks, and SUVs. Racks on the back of motorhomes have more wind resistance hit them and the bouncing and jostling from road travel is much greater than when mounted on the back of other vehicles.

If you are looking for a 2-Bike rack that will work with your Motorhome then I recommend the RockyMounts Backstage 2 Bike Rack, Item # RKY10002. It is a platform style rack and has a weight capacity of 60-lbs per bike. It works with bikes with wheel diameter of 20 inches to 29 inches and a maximum tire width of 5 inches. It works with 2 inch trailer hitch receivers.

If you want a more economical option, then I recommend the Swagman Dispatch, Item # S44FR. It is a platform style rack and has a weight capacity of 45-lbs per bike. This rack will work with bikes up to a maximum wheelbase of 52 inches and a maximum tire width of 3 inches. It works with 2 inch trailer hitch receivers.

Both the RockyMounts and Swagman work with cars, vans, trucks, and SUVs as well.
