In order to install a 7-way trailer connector on the rear of your 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 to your existing 4-way, you will need the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185. Unfortunately, they do not make a wiring harness that splices into the taillights and give you a 7-way trailer connector therefore this will be your only option.
If you will be towing a trailer with brakes then instead of part # 37185, you will want to use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7 as this kit contains the rest of the wires needed to install a brake controller. The brake pedal signal wire for your vehicle is not easily accessible therefore the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit part # RM-751475 will also be needed.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 as this is one of our top selling brake controllers due to its ease of use and integrated safeguards. You can check out the installation video I have attached for you which shows you everything you will need to do to install a brake controller on your 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500.
