Is it okay to add paint to this tailgate if I wanted?

Not only is it okay for you to add paint to the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with Open Design # VGD-10-100 it is recommended by the manufacturer. You can do this before installing it on your 2016 Ram 2500 and it will help the gate resist rust. I've added a link to a video review of this tailgate for you to take a look at.
