Recommended Jack Stands for Long Term Storage of Trailer

Question:

Hello, I have a trition aluminum open trailer aut1272. it has a 3500 lb torsion axle. I have to store my 1500 lb UTV on the trailer. will it hurt the trailer axles at all? Do I have to use jack stands to get the wheels off the ground to keep from damaging the axles? Of course I would rather just be able to unhook and leave it there without the hassle of the jack stands. but if the jack stands will help a lot then Im more then happy to do it. If you have any other suggestions please let me know Thanks for your time!

Your Torsion axle simply has integrated suspension into the axle. It is no different than having a trailer with constant weight on it like a travel trailer to have your 1500 lb UTV stored on it. Your axle is rated at 3500 lbs so it won't be an issue. If you are storing it for long periods of time, it would be better to get the weight off your axle and tires so you don't get flat spots on your tires and also relieve your suspension. This will also help protect from dry rot.

If you will be storing it for months at a time, I recommend using the 2-Ton Jack Stands - Qty 2 # PTW41021 and using 4 to get your tires off the ground for best long term function. This is only needed if you want to prolong the life and if storing for long periods of time without moving.
