Manual Adjustability in Auto/Proportional Mode like a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller?
Question:
Hi guys! Currently a p3 owner. My question..is there any actual adjustability in auto mode? The video is deceptive...there is NO proportional signal from the brake pedal that allows the unit to brake in proportion..its a flat on/off signal. If there is proportioninch its going to have to be a algorithm based on g forces like the p3. Anyway, the p3 has several modes that allow users to fine tune the automaticinch braking. 4 modes for initial bite boost and then a maximum power applied as set by the user in setup to account for different braking powers. Example..full 13.9 volts to my single axle will not lockup the tires..but on double axles the max power max be much lower to avoid lockup. There doesnt seem to be any adjustability or calibration whatsoever...so pretty much were just praying they got the g force algorithm better than the leading controller?

One of the advantages the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR has is the control knob. This knob installs in the dash or anywhere in your vehicle that is easy for the driver to access. This knob enables the driver to switch between proportional to user-controlled mode braking easily, just press the knob to activate. This feature will enable the driver to control the braking at your preference.
In regards to the question about actual adjustability in Auto/Proportional Mode, yes you are able to make adjustments while in Proportional Mode. For example, while in that mode there is a knob setting that will let you adjust the trailer brake pressure from 0 to 10. When your knob is set 0 the LED on the knob will be blue, and when pressing the brakes at that level, the trailer brakes will lightly engage. When the knob is set at 5, the LED will turn a purple-like color and when pushing the brakes at that level, your trailer brakes will engage at a medium level.. When setting your knob to 10 your LED will turn red and your trailer brakes will be very sensitive when you brake.
I have a video attached that will visually demonstrate how this process is done, on proportional mode.
The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 has a manual switch at the bottom of the brake controller and a boost button, however the driver will have more control with the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. All the control you need is at your fingertips. The Redarc controller also does a seamless transition from proportional braking Auto/Proportional Mode to time-delayed (manual mode) simply, because instead of reaching under your dash to make braking adjustments, (potentially dangerous) your control button has the ability to be installed anywhere the driver thinks is safe. Also the Redarc has the manual override that can be reached as well.
