Recommended Snow/Mud Chain for Limited Clearance on 2003 Honda with 235/70R16 Tires

Question:

Have Honda E 2003. Not stock tires from manufacturer 215/70R16, but bigger at 235/70R16. Need to have snow/mud chains but concerned about clearance issue. I dont want the chains to mess up anything as vehicle turns or snow/mud gets crunched in the inside walls of the wheel cavities. Please advise. Much respect

For your 235/70R16 tires, I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair # TC2319. These chains are made of manganese nickel alloy and have built in tensioners for a easy installation and a great fit. The link thickness is 3.7mm. It is recommended to have at least 15mm of clearance between the tire sidewall and the vehicle to use these chains and also 37mm between the top of the tire and the wheel well. Based on your photo, it would be wise to measure to ensure this clearance as you do have limited space.

If you do not have that clearance, we have one option for you. It is the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit XXL - Size K66 # TH02230K66. This tire chain does not wrap around the tire, but rides only on the middle tread of the tire. These are an extremely nice option for limited clearances.
