How Well Will Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly Perform on Trailer that Weighs Close to Its Capacity

Question:

I would be using this on trailer that is nearly 10,000 lbs with close to 1000 lb tongue weight. How well will this really perform at its spec limit?

That is a great question.

As you mentioned, the Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive # TVXL25 has a gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 pounds. I reached out to my contact at Trailer Valet regarding the performance of this product when used on a trailer that approaches these capacities. She stated that this particular unit is specifically built for heavier trailers. They have had many customers use this on trailers that were very close to its 10,000 pound capacity and stated that it worked very well. As long as you remain below its limit, this trailer dolly will perform well and allow you to easily maneuver the trailer. The chain drive system can also be switched between high and low gears for effortless driving.

With a heavier trailer like yours, there are just a couple things you will want to keep in mind. The system is going to perform a lot better if you make sure the weight in your trailer is properly distributed. This is really the case with any trailer, regardless of weight. Also, keep in mind that the driving ease will also depend a bit on the surface you plan on using it. This will work best when used on a hard packed, flat surface or packed gravel. If you will be using it on a loose gravel surface, I recommend laying down some plywood underneath for better traction.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this product so you can get a closer look at how it operates.
