Dash Display Error Code Removal After Tekonsha Brake Controller 90195 Installation
Question:
On a 2014 F150 XLT 3.7l Dont you have to set the trucks computer to detect the break controler?

Expert Reply:
If a Ford truck is equipped with a factory-installed trailer brake controller and this OEM unit is replaced with a superior aftermarket controller such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195 the change can cause an error code on the dash's main instrument cluster.
In such a case the way to remove this code is to have the TBC turned off by your local Ford dealer. Using the IDS, the Ford Technician should access the Programmable Parameters and then select the Personality/Dynamics. Select the TBC and turn it off. The fault code will now be removed. The factory unit can be re-activated in the same way.
