Installing an Electric Brake Controller in a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse with a Factory 7-Way Connector

Question:

The owners manual indicates there are 4 wires for a brake controller stubbed behind the side kick panel. I found them. One is black, one is blue, one is white with a blue stripe & one is red with a black stripe. Can you tell me which one I connect to which controller harness wire?

The Electric Brake Controller Adapter, part # 3026-P, is confirmed to fit the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Limited. If you have a Limited model you should have the connector underneath your dashboard.

Since you don't have the connector under your dash instead of using the # 3026-P adapter you need our # 5506 wiring kit to install the Prodigy P3, part # 90195. The wiring kit includes everything to power a brake controller.

I've linked a video from when we installed our # ETBC7 kit on an older Traverse. This kit is just like the # 5506 except it also includes the 7-way trailer connector which you don't need. The video should be helpful by showing you how to use the # 5506 wiring kit.

That's great because you don't need the # 5506, or anything else to install the Prodigy P3. To know for sure which wire is which you'll need to test them. Use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2992, to check each wire. One wire will have power at all times, likely the black wire. This is the power wire and connects the black wire on the controller. Another will have power but only when the brake pedal is pressed. This one is coming from the Traverse's stoplight switch and connects to the P3's red wire. It's probably the red wire with the black stripe. The other two wires won't show any power at all because one is a ground (Probably the white with the blue strip) and connects to the controller's white wire and the other is the brake output wire (Leaving the blue wire) which goes back to the 7-way and connects to the blue. If when you're testing other questions or something else comes up just let me know.
