How To Determine if the Convert-A-Ball Adapter Part # CAB-C5G Will Fit
Question:
I want to convert from a fifth Wheel to Gooseneck. How do I check to determine whether the Convert-A-Ball Adapter 12-16 inches will work on my 2018 3500HD Denali.

As you can see in the attached photo, the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5G attaches to the hitch ball on the gooseneck hitch in your truck bed and then to the king pin on your 5th wheel trailer. The adapter basically takes the place of a 5th wheel hitch.
In order to determine if the 12"-16" of height the Convert-A-Ball offers will work for you, you will need to back your truck up to the trailer while level like you would when attaching the trailer normally. You can then measure from the bottom of the king pin plate where the adapter attaches to the top of the hitch ball on your gooseneck hitch. If this distance is between 12" and 16" then the above hitch will work well for you.
Please note that the Convert-A-Ball is not recommended for use with factory gooseneck hitches and or rotating/cushioned pin boxes. If you have a factory gooseneck hitch then you will want to use the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter part # AM3100 which offers 11-3/4" to 14-3/4" of height adjustment.
However, if you have a rotating/cushioned pin box then your only option would be to use a 5th wheel hitch. In order to recommend the correct 5th wheel hitch for you I would need to know whether or not you have the factory rail kit.
