Tire Chain Alternatives for a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche with 275/55-20 Tires

Question:

I have a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche with size P275/55R20 tires. The owners manual says If the vehicle has P265/65R18 or P275/55R20 size tires, do not use tire chains. There is not enough clearance. Tire chains used on a vehicle without the proper amount of clearance can cause damage to the brakes, suspension, or other vehicle parts. The area damaged by the tire chains could cause loss of control and a crash. So what are my alternatives? I will be traveling to Southern California in January and will have to go over the Grapevine Tehachapi Pass, which usually requires chains that time of year. I dont want to spend a lot because I dont usually need anything like this.

Unless specifically stated in the owner's manual, tire chains can sometimes be substituted for tire cables such as the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains part # PW2028C. Tire cables generally offer more clearance between the tires and vehicle components. Unfortunately, this is the only alternative to tire chains I can offer you. Should you decide to go with the above tire cables, you would also be advised to the use the Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters part # PW103 in unison with them.

I have attached a review video of the cables and adjusters for you as well.
