Do I need a BandW slider 5th wheel for my 2016 Denali HD?

For your 6-1/2-foot-bed 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali you will need a sliding type 5th wheel hitch to give you enough turning clearance unless the 5th wheel trailer has a Sidewinder or Revolution pivoting pin box such as # RP34FR, for example. If it has a standard fixed pin box the slider is the other way to prevent your trailer overhang from suddenly "making friends" with the back of your truck's cab.
You have two options for a B&W slider hitch. B&W makes excellent products and handles their fabrication in-house, making a B&W 5th wheel hitch among the best options for a top quality American-made 5th wheel. Their products are well-engineered and beautifully made. You'll be happy.
If you ever need to tow gooseneck trailers or to have your Sierra's bed totally clear for cargo purposes (with no hitch rails in the way) then the way to go is the Companion 20K sliding hitch and under-bed install kit, parts # BWRVK3400-5W and # BWGNRK1016-5W, respectively. The install kit serves double-duty as the gooseneck hitch. When you need an empty bed for cargo you pull out the Companion hitch and you have it. For an in-bed wiring harness you can use # C56000.
If above-bed base rails do not pose a problem (and if you never tow a gooseneck) you can instead use the Patriot 18K slider hitch # BWRVK3270 along with the above-bed rail kit # BWRVK2506.
