Plug-In Adapter Needed to Use Prodigy P2 # 90885 Brake Controller with a 2016 Ram 1500 4x4
Question:
I own a 2016 RAM 1500 4x4 with the Tow Package. I need to purchase a Controller and the correct adapter for this vehicle. I am thinking that I will purchase the P2, based on the great reviews that it receives, but I am very confused as to which adapter is the correct one for my vehicle. I saw a video that showed a RAM similar to mine, but on this video, the technician just simply reached up under the dash, and pulled down the harness which the adapter will fit. Guess what ? I dont have that harness to pull down. I do have two Gray harnesses, one which looks similar to the one that I need to use, but Im unsure as to if it is the correct one. I just purchased a new RV and need to get the correct controller and adapter SOON. Please help. Thanks,

Since you have the tow package on your 2016 Ram 1500 4x4 you should have the connector under your driver side dash so that you can install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 (excellent choice by the way) using the Plug-In Adapter # 3024-P.
Although it would be great if vehicle manufacturers were 100% consistent the reality is that they are not so you will need to do some searching, but you should have that connector. I actually had someone ask a similar question (with a 2016 Ram 1500) not that long ago and this person had removed the lower part of the dash to locate it. It wasn't even there when they looked, they ended up finding it locked in the side heater duct work which they had to pry the seam to pull it out.
I really hope that it doesn't come to this but it just goes to show that manufacturers don't always do everything the same on vehicles.
