More Drop for Pro Series Weight Distribution System on 2008 Yukon Denali
Question:
Hello I just got a 2008 Yukon Denali with the rear compressor system in it. My PS49902 Pro Series WD hitch previously worked great on my older tow vehicle, but this vehicle does a great job of elevating the rear end such that I don't get enough from the PS49902. I think I could probably use another 6 inch or so. Can I buy a different shank that allows more ? Does the replacement shank need to be Pro Series, or can it be another brand? Alternatively, with the compressor rear suspension on my tow vehicle, I could get rid of the WD hitch completely, the vehicle is rated for it. I guess I would mostly worry about excessive tire wear on the rear of the vehicle?

In order to add drop to your Pro Series system, which currently gives you a maximum of 2" drop, you could add a new shank. The Pro Series # RP63971 is an option, and will offer you a total of 6-1/2" of drop. You can find the exact drop you need by parking both your Yukon and trailer on level ground; then measure from the ground to the top of your receiver and from the ground to the bottom of your coupler. However much the Yukon's hitch height is greater than the coupler is the amount of drop you'll need.
I've added a link to a video review of this shank for you, as well as a link to our page with each of our available shanks should you find you need something with a different amount of drop.
