Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2006 Mini Cooper

Question:

I will be towing a 2006 Mini Cooper, base model. Can you tell me what I need base plates and tow rigging for my 37 foot motor home, 5k towing capacity. Also, will my Brake Buddy work with this car?

We do have the parts needed to flat tow a 2006 Mini Cooper, but you will want to start off by checking your owner's manual to make sure that your specific model and engine can be flat towed.

If it can, then you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar lighting, supplemental braking system, and most likely a high-low adapter.

By base model I assume that you have a Hardtop model. If that is the case then you will want to use the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1303. One of the more popular Blue Ox tow bars that we have is the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 which is rated for 6,500 lbs and comes with safety cables rated for the same weight.

If you plan on towing fairly frequently then the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit # RM-155 is a great option. If you don't tow very frequently then you may be more interested in the Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK.

I am sure your current Brake Buddy will work great although you will want to check with Brake Buddy for verification. If it is like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR then you should be good to go.

Some flat towings setups need a high-low adapter to ensure that your vehicles is flat towed level and secure. I have attached a link to our selection of adapters as well as a link to a helpful article on how to find the correct one.

I have also linked some videos for you to check out as well.
