Installation of Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195 on a 2010 Dodge Ram with Factory Brake Control
Question:
Have a 2010 Dodge Laramie 2500 with factory installed brake controller but it wont work properly with electric over hydraulic brakes on trailer.Want to take out controller and replace with P3 and Dodge wiring adapter. Will the onboard computer recognize this controller or will I have to get Dodge to install and get it to talk to my truck?

You are correct, the factory brake controller on the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie will not work with electric over hydraulic brakes. It can only be used with electric brakes.
When you remove the factory brake controller, it will turn on a warning lamp on the instrument cluster. To remove the factory brake controller and not get the warning light you will have to have the dealer reconfigure the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) of the truck. Once the TIPM has been reconfigured and the factory brake controller unplugged, you can then install the Prodigy P3 brake controller, part # 90195, and the Dodge wiring adapter, part # 3021-P.
The Dodge dealer does not have to install the Prodigy P3 brake controller and adapter after he has reconfigured the vehicle. It is just a simple plug-in, the Dodge wiring adapter connects directly to the factory brake controller port under the dash.
I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Prodigy P3 brake controller and the Dodge wiring adapter.
