Fitting a Roof Top Tent into the Bed of a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Question:

Hi, What would you suggest the best option is to mount a rooftop tent in the bed of my 2017 Colorado would be? I want it mounted low, just above the bed to keep it below the cab when driving. I was looking at the Thule Xsporter or MaxxTow ladder rack but dont think judging by the pictures that the rack will go low enough to keep my tent out of the wind without cutting the verticals a bit..

Your best chance to get this setup to work will be the Thule XSport Adjustable Ladder Rack, part # TH500XT for either the 5 foot or 6 foot bed variations of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado.

This will have the capacity to hold the roof tent, plus people in the tent, and can actually get fairly small by dropping the adjustable height bars to their lowest setting. The most direct limit to this will be the depth of your truck bed. It has an available range of around two feet of adjustment, so you should be able to find an acceptable fit.

Depending on your RTT, you may need a different set of clamps, because of how thick the Xsporter crossbars are. Reply to this and let me know what brand and I can tell you about how well it will fit these bars.
