Troubleshooting Demco 16k Slider Hitch that Doesn't Want to Fit in Reese Fifth Wheel Rails

Question:

I want to replace my Reese 16k hitch with a Demco Hictchhiker 16k slider. When I placed the Demco unit in my truck the tabs wre the pins go to hold the hitch into the truck bed are to wide. The dimension of the tabs are 28 3/8inch inside 31 5/16inch outside. Front to rear seem correct. Do I need the DM6014 rails? Paul

Which hitch specifically did you order? Was it the part # DM6076P-16K? This hitch is supposed to fit Reese fifth wheel rails and in our experience it does fit them well. However, the dimensions you listed for the tabs are slightly off from where they should be. They should be exactly 29 inches apart left to right on center and yours seem to be around 3/4 of an inch too long.

When assembling the hitch center section and legs did you by chance put the washers between the legs of the hitch and the mounting plate of the center section? They are supposed to go on the outsides of the hitch like in the picture I attached.
