Does Adding Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503 Bypass the Factory Cooler on a 2001 Nissan Maxima

Question:

I will be installing this tranny cooler into my car and have a couple questions. 1- what do I use to plug the existing ports on the radiator? 2- Do I fill the cooler with the same coolant as in the radiator? Is this now the only cooling source for the transmission?

When adding an aftermarket transmission cooler like # D13503 to a vehicle, you do not bypass the factory cooler. The Derale cooler will be installed in line with the existing system so that it supplements the factory cooler. It accepts the same transmission fluid that is used in the transmission. You may or may not need to add more fluid.
