What is the diameter of the hole of the Thule cradle 853-7887?

I went out into our showroom and measured a Stay-Put Cradle, part # 853-7887, that was on one of our floor model Thule Roadway 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH912XT and found out that the hole is 1 inch in diameter.
