How to Remove a Stuck Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Hitch Ball
Question:
I have a Convert a ball system on my truck. I have the 2 on now but need to put on the 1 7/8 . My problem is that the pin on the 2 seems to be rusted and will not push out. How can I get that pin to push out so I can change the ball size?

I spoke with my contact at Convert-A-Ball and was told that you should try to use a brass punch initially.
If the Pin in the Interchangeable Ball Set, # 900B, will not move with the brass punch you will need to attempt to use a harder steel punch. Some penetrating lubricant, like WD-40 or PB Blaster may help with removal also.
If a steel punch will not dislodge the pin, you will need to have the pin pressed out, a local automotive shop should have a press that can perform this operation.
If the ball, pin or shank the ball sits on is damaged in any way replacement is recommended. If just the ball or pin is damaged, I would recommend a stainless replacement, like the 2 inch Stainless Steel Interchangeable Hitch Ball, item # 401-B. If the shank is damaged the Convert-A-Ball Stainless Steel Shank, item # 106B, would be the correct item for the # 900B ball set.
My contact at Convert-A-Ball also recommended removing the hitch balls from the shank when not towing with the vehicle.
