How to Install Brake Controller Wiring on a 2008 Toyota Tundra SR5 Crewmax

Question:

If your 2008 Toyota Tundra has the factory 7-way connector in the back, then you should be able to plug in a brake controller adapter under the dash of the Tundra. Does the connector provided by the manufacturer look like the Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter, part # 3040-S. If so, then you will just need to connect the wires coming out of the back of the Draw-Tite Activator, part # 5504, to the proper wires on your factory supplied harness, and plug in the adapter. The brake controller wire functions are: White: Ground wire. Black: 12v lead wire. Blue: Electric brake signal wire. Red: Stoplight switch, this wire would have a power reading when the brake pedal is pressed, but would have none when it is released. If your 2008 Toyota Tundra has the factory 7-way connector in the back, then you should be able to plug in a brake controller adapter under the dash of the Tundra. Does the connector provided by the manufacturer look like the Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter, part # 3040-P. If so, then you will just need to connect the wires coming out of the back of the Draw-Tite Activator, part # 5504, to the proper wires on your factory supplied harness, and plug in the adapter.

The brake controller wire functions are:

White: Ground wire.
Black: 12v lead wire.
Blue: Electric brake signal wire.
Red: Stoplight switch, this wire would have a power reading when the brake pedal is pressed, but would have none when it is released.

With all of that said the 3040-P can be used in place of the factory provided harness, and will plug directly into your trailer brake controller and vehicle so no splicing is required.
