Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer Using a 2007 Ford F-350 with a Bulldog Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have a 2007 f350 crew cab short bed truck. I have bulldog hideaway ball that i purchased from you all years ago. Awesome service and product. I need a fifth wherl hitch to pull a toy hauler. I like the ones that use the ball hole like the companion or drawtite. Trouble with the companion is if wont fit the round bulldoghole. And the drawtite wont work on shortbeds. Any adapters or suggestions to make it work. I would really like to make a system like that work? Thank you.

The only solution available to use a 5th wheel hitch in the Bulldog gooseneck hitch on your 2007 Ford F-350 is the Hi-Rise Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # 9480. It has an adapter that is compatible with the round hitch receiver that you have.

Although we do recommend using a sliding 5th wheel hitch on a truck that has a bed shorter than 8 feet, it is possible for you to use the Hi-Rise for your situation. This is the most cost-effective solution, but it will make maneuvering in tights areas tricky.

The best option would be for you to swap out your current Bulldog hitch for something like the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1108 and then utilizing the sliding B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W. Using this setup will give you an additional 12 inches of turning clearance, a towing weight of 20,000 lbs, and a hitch solution that is made right here in the USA.

I have attached some review videos for you to check out.
