Does Increasing Tire and Wheel Capacity Increase Trailer Weight Capacity

Question:

Hi, I have a Harbour Freight Haul Master 90154 1195 lb 48inch x 96inch foldable trailer, I heard that Harbour Freight is having a recall on their Trailer tires, I been thinking of replacing them to higher quality tire since I got it, due to the speed rating and just the trust of carrying alot of weight on the highway, Im looking at the 30620 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12inch White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range C that you offer, my question is if I add these tires, it will raise the tire weight capacity to 1980Lbs, will I be able to carry more then the 1195Lbs orginally rated same as included tires with trailer or closer to a ton without changing axles or hubs? and do you offer some 1inch or more lift blocks and U bolts to put between the spring and axle to give me more clearance between tire and fender to avoid tire damage from contact with the fender Thanks

Trailer weight capacities are based on a number of components. You have the tire capacity, axle capacity, coupler, capacity, brake capacity etc. So if you were to upgrade just one component to a higher capacity in most cases you don't increase the capacity of the entire trailer.

That being said the Kenda wheel and tire part # AM30620 that you mentioned is a great choice. It has a capacity of 990 lbs per wheel/tire when inflated to 90 psi as well.

We don't have lift blocks for your trailer but you may be able to replace your current spring hangers with ones that are taller. If you can tell me how tall your current ones are from the mounting base to the bolt hole center we can see if we have a taller option.
