Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2 Trailer Hitch Receivers
Question:
Hi... I have a 2014 Ram with the 2.5inch receiver. Does anyone make a 2.5 weight distribution hitch so that I dont have to use the reducer sleeve?

Most of our weight distribution systems do not come with a 2-1/2" shank. Some do but your options are limited at that point. The best solution I have for you would be to choose the weight distribution system you want without a shank, and use a 2-1/2" shank which is sold separately to allow you to use the system on your 2014 Ram 3500. The shank does not have to be the same brand as the weight distribution system you are using it on. The only thing you will need to know in order to choose the right shank would be the correct amount of rise/drop.
For a 2-1/2" weight distribution shank with a 3" drop and 7" rise you will want part # EQ90-02-4700. For a 2-1/2" weight distribution shank with a 4" drop and 8" rise you will want part # EQ90-02-4800 or part # EQ90-02-4900 for a 2-1/2" weight distribution shank with a 6" drop and 10" rise.
In order to choose the correct weight distribution system to go with this shank, you will first need to determine your towing setups total tongue weight. Your total tongue weight can be calculated by adding the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer by any cargo storage behind the rear axle of your Ram. An easy way to find this would be to use a tongue weight scale like the Sherline Trailer Tongue Weight Scale part # e99044.
.
I have attached a list of weight distribution systems that will work for you once you determine your total tongue weight. I have linked our Equal-i-zer selection as they seem to be the most popular and well-reviewed systems. I have also attached a review video on one of the shanks for you as well.
