Will Using a Trunk Mount Bike Rack Dent or Scratch a 2008 Mercedes C-Class Sedan

Question:

Hi, I want to get a trunk mounted bike rack for my 2008 Mercedes c class 4dr sedan. I am thinking Thule is the best and the TH56BV is the one that is recommended on their website, but I was wondering what your expert opinion is regarding the best carrier for my car one that wont dent or scratch the vehicle. Would the 2 bike carrier TH45JV offer less of a chance of denting/scratching?

Thule offers several trunk mount bike rack options and they are all listed as being a fit for your 2008 Mercedes C-Class sedan. The OutWay 3, # TH56BV, is one of the best Thule has to offer. I had a chance to try out the rack the other day. The rubber coated straps are my favorite feature and they protect the vehicle from scratches. And the base legs have molded rubber pads so all contact points are protected.

With any trunk mount bike rack for any vehicle, there is a chance that plastic or fiberglass, even thinner pieces of steel can get deformed when using a trunk mount bike rack. I have not heard of any complaints thus far with the Raceway series of bike racks. As long as it is installed according to the instructions, follow the fit tips for your specific vehicle, and stay within the weight limits there should not be any problems.

If you plan on only carrying 2 bikes, then I recommend going with the 2 bike version, # TH45JV, because for 2 bikes, it is the right rack for the job..
