Recommended 7-Way Connector for 2004 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverrado with the flat wire 4 plug! I just purchased an enclosed Cargo trailer and the light connector is a round female connections! Can you help me find a connector that would connect the two? thanks in advance!

If you are only needing to power the signal lights on your new trailer (if the trailer does not have/need electric brakes), then all you will need to use is the Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole # 37185. You will simply connect the adapter to the existing 4-Way on your Silverado and it will give you a 7-Way to hook up with the trailer. The additional wire leads will not be needed.
I have attached a short installation video on an earlier model Silverado that you can use for reference.
If your enclosed trailer does have electric brakes that need to be powered, I instead recommend installing the Pollak 7-Pole # PK11898 to the bundle of wires that should be located above the spare tire on your truck. If your Silverado happens to have a round plug with a cap instead of the bundle of wires, you will want to use part # 30955 instead.
To control the brakes on the trailer, you will also need a brake controller. I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is a great, proportional controller that will activate the brakes on the trailer at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your truck. You can use the Plug-In Adapter # 3015-P to install the controller. One end of the adapter will connect to the controller itself and the other end will connect directly to the built-in port beneath the truck's dash.
I have attached a couple short demonstration videos and some additional articles that you might find helpful.
