Comparing Curt 16023 and Demco 6194 Fifth Wheel Rail Adapters

Question:

I noticed you carry both adapter rails for puck systems for the GM short bed Silverado trucks but when comparing the two mentioned in the subject line, which one has the best design and peace of mind for securing to the truck bed pucks. I didnt see or notice any methods of securing the 4 pucks down on the demco 6194. It only showed a lock down feature on the center goose neck pin. Where the Curt 16023 shows how to lock down each puck and secure with pins but doesnt contain a center lockdown for the goose neck puck location.

Each of the fifth wheel rail adapters you mentioned, the Demco # DM6194 and Curt # C16023 will offer you complete security for the hitches that fit on them. The Demco works by turning the locking plate with the thumb screw, which rotates the feet of the adapter locking it into place.

The biggest difference between these two adapters is going to be the hitches they fit, which is generally the deciding factor in the adapter they have. The Demco adapter can accommodate any fifth-wheel hitch that fits industry standard above-bed rails, while the Curt is only for use with Curt hitches # 16516, # C16521, # C16541.
