Recommendation to Install Crossbars on Utility Trailer for Kayak Carrier

Question:

I am looking for a means to affix two 12foot kayaks to our utility trailer. The trailer is 100inch long, 52inch wide measured from the inside. The trailer edge is flared out 2, s 1 1/8inch forming an upside down L channel. We look for clamps that will secure itself in this channel and support two bars that will hold our old Yakima kayak holders. The INRTT 101-79 seems to come close...? Any other options? Thank you.

I may have a solution for you, however the Inno Truck Bed Cargo Rack # INRT101-79 referenced in your question is designed specifically for certain model truck beds, so it might not be the best fit for your utility trailer.

For your trailer, I recommend looking at the Malone Crossbar Conversion Kit # MPG475. This system is designed for utility trailers like yours to allow you to transport kayaks with your existing carriers. It includes two 78 inch load bars, 4 brackets and the mounting hardware necessary to install them onto the trailer. Keep in mind that this system only works if attached to the base frame. If you will be attaching to raised sides, you will need the TopTier # MPG493.

I have attached the installation details for this product so you can get a better idea as to how it installs onto the trailer.
