Axle dimensions come down to two key measurements. The distance between the spring seats (where the axle mounts to the trailer), and the distance from hub face to hub face where the tires will mount. Spring seat to spring seat is determined by you measuring the frame of the trailer where the springs seats are from center to center.

Overall length is basically where you want the wheels/tires to be. Since trailer wheels have a zero offset you'll need to determine where you want the tires to be on your trailer width wise from outside to outside and then subtract the width of a single tire and you'll get the length dimension you need.
