Capacity, Install Location and How Far Out From GMC Terrain Do Aries Steps # AA204032-2 Stick
Question:
I have a 2016 Terrain with Denali trim package as shown in the installation instructions. Several questions: 1 does this install lower the overall ground clearance of the vehicle ? This vehicle is pretty low already for an SUV. The installation photos look like some of the brackets may ride lower than the exhaust which looks like the low point on my vehicle. 2 How wideinch is the installation ? Would these bars make the overall vehicle width larger ? Looks like the widest point is currently the fenders or mirrors in the normal position. 3 would there be any clearance issues with factory splash guards / mud flaps ? 4 Tubes are listed as stainless steel what about the installation brackets and hardware. Alloy aluminum, regular steel, galvanized steel, stainless ? 5 Weight limit ? Im just trying to gauge where this falls between a serious heavy duty use package or a light duty trim kit. P.S. I love the DrawTite hitch I got from you. Perfect fit, great finish, and ZERO rust to date. Its way over-built for this vehicle, which is EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED : Thanks

I sent your questions to Aries and they responded by telling me that the 3” step bars of the # AA204032-2 from the picture sits flush with bottom of door being this is a rocker panel mount, and the ideal weight limit is 250 lbs. the width of the bars is 3” this won’t protrude past the mirrors. Pre-molded mud flaps could be an issue with installation due to the slight bend of step bar. The brackets are made out of carbon steel . this will be considered a light duty application due to the location from which this is installed ( rocker panel ).
