Oil Cooler Sandwich Adapter Front Driveshaft Interference 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
I got the 15405 cooler.. had everything apart and ready to install.. the front driveshaft on my 2009 4.8 silverado was in the way of the house barbs o. The sandwhich adapter . Is there another way around this? No matter which way I tried to position the adapter it would hit the front driveshaft.. thanks

In order to install the Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit part # D15405 on your 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 4.8L V8 engine, you will need a special adapter as the barbed hose fitting included in the kit will indeed interfere with the drive shaft. In order to install the return line of the sandwich adapter you will need to use Derale 3/8" NPT Female x 3/8" NPT Male 90-Degree Hose Fitting part # D98333.
I have attached a photo of this fitting installed to clear the driveshaft on a similar vehicle for you.
