Recommended Air Springs for GMC 2500HD Denali with B&W Companion System
Question:
I have a 2016 GMC 2500HD Denali, crew cab 4wd Duramax. I tow a 5th wheel with a gross weight of 16k lb. Loaded as I haul it it weighs in around 15k lb. The kingpin weight is 3200lb, 21 of the trailer weight. Ive just upgraded my tires to 126 load rated at 3748lb. Now Im looking at enhancing the springs and shocks or adding airbags. Checking GM part numbers it looks like I can just put a set of 3500 leafs under it with 3500 shocks and get the weight rating of a stock 3500 or add airbags or add helper springs. What do you recommend? If adding airbags I was looking at the Air Lift 5000 or 7500. Since I have a total drive axle weight of 6800 to 7000lb I assume I should go for the 7500? Any advice is greatly expected. I have a BandW turnover ball with BandW Companion 5th wheel hitch. The solution needs to work with that I was concerned the release for the turnover ball might be in the way?

The Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57538 will give you a load leveling capacity of up to 7,500 lbs. This does not increase your load carrying capacity, but will level your truck and also give you some much needed shock absorption when towing. This system is a confirmed fit for your truck and will allow you to use your B&W system without any interference. This system comes with manual inflation valves that can be mounted wherever is convenient for you. This system is more heavy duty than the 5000 lb system and has springs 1 inch larger to help with the ride. This air spring system will give you a much more comfortable ride than jounce springs that are not adjustable.
You may want to consider the Air Lift Load Controller Compressor System for Air Helper Springs- Heavy Duty - Dual Path # AL25856 that will allow you to adjust the springs individually for off-center loads and give you adjustment at the press of a button with a gauge to see psi level.
