Will HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Work w/Factory Brake Control in 2016 Chevy Silverado

What happens if I hookup a Hydrastar to a 2016 chevy with factory brake controller? Does it just not work? Or does it malfunction? Thank you

HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HS381-9066 requires a certain amount of power from a brake controller for it to operate properly. If the controller is only designed to work with electric brakes it won't send the proper amount of power back because it is looking for the draw of brake magnets. At best the unit would run intermittently and the worse case scenario is that it would not work at all.

Some factory brake controllers have an electric over hydraulic mode they can be in so if your controller has that then everything should work just fine. But if it does not have an electric over hydraulic mode the adapter, # HBA-CAM, will be needed to simulate magnet draw effectively tricking the brake controller into thinking the trailer has electric brakes.
