Height of a Spare Tire Bike Rack on a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Question:

Yakima Spare Ride 2 Bike Rack for my 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Concerned about how far up I have to lift bike. Can you tell me if its above top of spare tire? I am 74 yo with recent shoulder surgery. Thank you

The Yakima SpareRide, part # Y02599 will have its hanging rack sitting above or in line with the spare tire's top. On the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, this is pretty high off the ground.

Instead, I'd recommend a platform style rack like the Saris Freedom, part # SA4412B. This will sit significantly lower on the vehicle, allowing for an easier load onto the bike rack. It also includes integrated rack and bike locks for added security.
