Troubleshooting Camper Signal Lights Not Working

Question:

We have no lights on the camper. Changed out the plug to the truck. We checked the truck with another camper and works fine. Is there something on the camper we are missing?

Since the connector on your truck was able to activate the lights on another trailer, we can at least rule out the tow vehicle as the cause and focus on the camper.

There are various possible reasons why the lights on your camper are not working. I recommend first testing the camper side connector with a circuit tester like # PTW2993, with the camper connected to the truck. You will want to make sure power is making it through the trailer side connector. If power is not coming through, then it's likely it is simply a bad connector on the camper and it will need to be replaced.

If power is getting through okay, you will next want to test the wires as you go back along the camper. Check for any breaks, damaged or exposed areas on the wiring. Also check to make sure that all of the ground connections on the trailer are made to clean, bare metal surfaces free of any debris or corrosion.

If you are unable to resolve the issue, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.
